I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here

I will join the masses in weighing in on the string of Celebrity Deaths. During the past few weeks we have seen some major icons pass. Ed McMahon (Johnny Carson’s Co-host), Farrah Fawcett (Model/Actress), Billy Mays (Oxy Clean Pitch Man) and Michael Jackson (The King of Pop). When thinking of all of the great and some not so great achievements these people have made, the book of Ecclesiastes comes to mind. The writer of this book in the Bible truly led the life of a celebrity yet he sums up his life by saying, “Everything is Meaningless”. Solomon knew that the praise of men and accumulation of things was empty. In Ecclesiastes 8:8 he writes “None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death.” Death is real and a part of the life process. Celebrities and regular Joes like myself will experience death. What makes our death important is the legacy we leave. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “Here is now my final conclusion: Fear God and obey His commands, or this is everyone’s duty. God will judge everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.” Take a moment to pray for the families of these celebrities. They were not perfect but they were people. While their eternal destiny has been set, there are many others who still need to make that choice. Let’s Go!
