Sometimes I wonder how so many people that I and other church staff help seem to forget those moments and either turn on you or run away. It breaks my heart at times to see teens and families drift away from what God wants for them. Even after all these years in ministry I am reminded by God's word to not take it personal when people fail you. They like I am human and imperfect. It's not about them or me for that matter. It is all about God. When Jesus was on the cross, He was able to say,
"Forgive them they know not what they do" Luke 23:34
As Jesus hung on the cross and stared into the same faces that three days earlier were waving palm branches and praising His name, He was able to not take it personal. He knew it was not them but the sin within them that was attacking Him. The same sin that caused his followers to run and hide. The same sin that His death was about to atone for. Don't stop loving and serving people because they hurt you, it's not them but the sin within them. It's not about them or ourselves, it's all about Jesus!
